Welcome to Summer Geometry!
This will be a whirlwind ride through the wonderful world of high school geometry including proofs of all of the major topics. Feedback will be provided to students midway through and at the end of the course, however, the only graded material will be the placement test at the end. A score of at least 80% leads to credit for high school geometry and placement into the next course. Any score below will not result in credit, however, you will be well-prepared for the full year course in the fall, so never fear, this is a no lose course.
Our textbook is McDougal Littell's Geometry for Enjoyment and Challenge which will be provided to you in electronic form although you can follow along with any high school geometry textbook based on chapter names or index searches. Homework will be provided as handouts each day and will be attached to this website. Passwords for the textbook and some handouts will be provided to you in class.
This website will include helpful links, embedded video, GeoGebra explorations, and documents to use as you progress through this course.
First up, we have our course outline and pacing guide. I am displaying this below, but most often documents will be attached so that you can download them by clicking on the document name. This document is dynamic and subject to change in response to what happens in class; however, there is very little wiggle room in this course so hold on tight and keep running with the course. Be prepared to spend up to three hours engaged in practice and exploration outside of class everyday. If you are spending more time than that please talk to me in person so we can optimize how you spend your time while keeping up with the material.
