Note: many of these are repeats from the "Area" unit
Important: You are also responsible for the properties of the various quadrilaterals from the general slides. Make flashcards for these as well.
diagonal (of a polygon) - a segment that joins two nonconsecutive (nonadjacent) vertices of a polygon
isosceles trapezoid -
isosceles triangle - A triangle with two congruent (equal) sides.
kite - a quadrilateral in which two disjoint sides of a quadrilateral are congruent
median (of a trapezoid) - A segment that joins the midpoint of the nonparallel sides of a trapezoid. The length of the median is the average of the two bases (parallel sides).
"most specific" - All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares. If you can prove that it is a square, then that is the most specific name for the shape and rectangle will not receive credit if you are asked for the most specific name.
parallelogram - A quadrilateral (4-sided polygon) that has two pairs of opposite sides which are parallel.
rectangle -
regular (polygon) - a polygon that is both equilateral and equiangular
rhombus - a parallelogram with four congruent (equal length) sides.
square -
trapezoid - a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides
